We combine technical expertise with attention to detail, restoring original plasterwork and render with excellent results
About our plasterwork services.
It is extremely important that the right plastering materials are used when restoring property of any period, but especially when the buildings were originally plastered in a lime or pozzalanic render. These traditional types are render were used with good reason; they allow buildings to breathe and flex, and using a more modern material can often cause more problems than it solves.
Rendering will often fail when applied to a material that it can’t bond with, and that could lead to blown rendering, cracking in cold and icy weather conditions, and even total collapse over time. In addition, using the wrong type of render, can lead to damp problems as moisture trapped in the walls is unable to escape. Likewise, modern masonry paints can also trap this moisture causing problems.
At Peter Loe, we always take care to make sure that the type of render we use on a restoration project matches that of the building’s original specification. Once the type of render has been determined, we can apply new render, blending it in style and finish to the rest of the property.
Peter Loe Restorations Ltd also offers a consultancy service on an agreed fee basis to architectural conservation practices and private clients engaged in the refurbishment and conservation of listed and historic buildings, in which we undertake the on-site management of projects consisting of the following:
