Loe & Co. was founded by Alfred George Loe, a Registered Architect, in 1919 as Building Contractors. Following his retirement during the early 1940’s Alfred Edward William Loe became managing director in 1947 following his war time service in the Royal Artillery and the company was registered as a limited liability company in February 1947.
Post war works included extensive private house construction and commercial buildings including a new garage depot in Wood Green London for the City Bus Company, and a large factory for the No-Sag Spring Company (part of the Ford Motor Company)
Peter Loe joined the company in 1966 having previously served an indentured management apprenticeship with C.S. Wiggins & Sons, a substantial local building company gaining an H.N.D. This was followed by the position as a senior site agent with a medium sized civil engineering company based in London, running many construction sites of various types. He became managing director of Loe & Co. Ltd in 1969.
